Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. We know these words because they speak to the finality of life. On this Ash Wednesday these are words of hope because the mark of the cross of Christ on our foreheads reminds us of the cross placed there in our baptism, which is God’s naming and claiming of us as God’s beloved.
